The habitat of nearly all the animals I've photographed has been affected by the fire. I still have cameras in the San Gabriels, and I don't know when I'll be able to get back to them (or if they will still function when I do). I've had some very difficult days, but I still love the San Gabriels and the wildlife that calls it home, and I look forward to witnessing the recovery of this special place. It will come. Thank you for sharing these discoveries with me we can all look forward to many more.

Good luck with those cams -- you might have some interesting pictures. And congratulations on all the magical cougars. You seem to have found their beat.
I really love visiting your sight and appreciate the time, effort and energy expended in do it. Thank YOU!
I agree w/ Mr. Codger - you might have amazing footage. Fingers crossed! :-) AP
I hope the animals you filmed survived the fire and will find enough food to live on. And that your cameras are OK. Last week, as the fire was racing down the Arroyo Seco, I met a beautiful bobcat on Inverness Drive in La Canada-Flintridge carrying a dead rabbit for dinner. It gave me hope.
This morning, Tuesday 15th, a mountain lion was seen by hikers at Teddy's Outpost, and it ran off south down the PL trail. I came along a few hours later and noticed some large animal had been going through the trash can near there. This poor animal is probably quite hungry. It's big and muscular - probably one of those seen on your cam.
Bellis - thanks for this news. Did the hikers report it to Fish & Game? It would be a good idea. I hoped the lions would move east to Eaton, Bailey, etc. There should still be deer there.
I have gotten second-hand reports of a mountain lion being seen in the lower (unburned) part of Millard Canyon, as well. Many deer have migrated into that area since the fire, so it should have plenty to eat.
Here's hoping that your cameras are still functional. If you need any volunteer help to place them (or new ones) in the local mountains, please let me know! I'm a big fan of your site and what you do.
