Sweet Cougary Goodness

This lion was a welcome surprise (the last one was back in December, so it's been a while). We thought this would be a good location for all animals, since it is a narrow enough part of the canyon that anything traveling through would have to cross at this particular spot. I was expecting to see a groggy, hungry bear, moving around with the first warm days of spring. Instead, this decidedly non-groggy, but probably still hungry, mountain lion:

Sadly, some people who couldn't just leave something alone bashed a rock into my camera. Didn't try to steal it, just wanted to ruin it. Nice. I'm going to see if it can be repaired, but it doesn't look good.

This is fantastic footage! I've lived in Utah and Idaho & Ca all places where cougars live, but have never been fortunate to see one in the wild.

You have some amazing video, into the secluded behavior of cougars. My aunt has seen a track at her house in Utah, and I'm going there this summer. Here's hoping to see one! Sorry about the camera, I don't know why people are so strange about it.

Humans suck. Sorry about your camera.

I've never seen either a cougar or a bobcat in the wild. I don't hike the right places to see a cougar, and I reckon bobcats are just way too shy.

My brother-in-law, who's an avid hunter has seen most of the big predators when he was hunting elk and deer--cougar, bobcat, griz, wolf, coyotes, etc. (He's never said that he's seen a wolverine, though.)
